Science in Ash Class.
During the last three weeks, we have been exploring both reversible and irreversible changes in Ash Class and working on our practical science skills. We have separated mixtures using sieves, magnets, filters and evaporation and carried out our own investigations. In one investigation we explored the dissolving speeds of different sugar types and discussed if making a sugar solution was a reversible or irreversible reaction. During another lesson we explored the reaction between vinegar and bicarbonate of soda, choosing our own variables to investigate. Many investigated the effect of changing either the mass of bicarbonate of soda or the volume of vinegar. We collected the carbon dioxide gas produced during the chemical reaction in balloons and measured the size of the balloons to enable us to draw a conclusion.
Great investigation planning and practical skills Ash class!
